This is the list of items that I used.
5 – 11/32 In. x 4 Ft. x 8 Ft. Ply Wood
4 – 3 In. x 5 In. x 8 Ft. Pressure Treated Landscape Timber
2 – 5 in. Heavy Duty Tee Hinge, Zinc Plated
1 – Zinc Plated Screws for the hinges.
15 – 2 In. x 3 In. x 8 Ft. Green Douglas Fir Dimensional
1 – 1 Pound 2-1/2 In. Tan Premium Exterior Screws
Plywood – I used the cheapest that was available. It will be painted and stuff behind some tress, so the appearance is not very important, functionality is.
Landscape Timbers – I thought about using blocks to keep the garage up off the ground. But I decided to go with landscape timers. It’s a cost savings of about $15.
Framing Lumber – I used 2×3 since this is going to be short only 48 in high, 2×4 would not add much, besides the to the price.
Hinges – I used the standard 5 in zinc plated hinges. They should stay out of the elements so I think stainless steel would have been a bit much.
Fasteners – I used 1 3/4 braid and 2 1/2 in and 1 3/8 deck screws. If I need to move it I can take it apart to where the pieces are manageable.
Finish – Very important to paint the whole thing. You will also need to use something to block any moisture between the landscape timbers and plywood floor. I’ll use Alex the cheapest chalking out there. You could use plastic sheeting or anything else that blocks moisture.
The total cast for the material is about $125. A small price to pay to keep a few extra square feet of the garage and to keep the investment in the lawn equipment out of the weather.
